The City’s snow plowing crews will be moving into residential areas starting today, Wednesday, January 15, 2019 with the Westview neighbourhood up first.
A snow lift has been scheduled for the Central Business District starting Sunday, January 13, 2019 at 8:00pm to remove snow that has accumulated over the winter. The anticipated completion is Monday, January 14 at 8:00am. Where possible, motorists are asked to relocate parked cars to assist in the effective clearing of snow.
The City of Prince Albert would like to advise that the Snow Route Parking Ban declared at 9:00am yesterday morning has been lifted . Over the course of the next several days, City crews will be focusing on priority two streets (school zones, bus routes, central avenue downtown, etc). Given the strong gusting winds being experienced, some backtracking on priority one streets may be required.
Prince Albert City Council has approved the 2019 Municipal Budget in another challenging year. The total approved general fund budget for 2019 is $67.6 million which represents a $1.8 million increase from 2018. Once all revenues and expenses are accounted for, the City of Prince Albert will require an additional $1.2 million from property taxes which represents a 3.9% mill rate increase.
A number of City facilities have revised schedules for the holidays. The facilities schedule below shows the hours of operations for City facilities from Sunday, December 23, 2018 until Wednesday, January 2, 2019.
The City of Prince Albert wishes to advise residents that Prince Albert City Council has approved additional garbage and recycling pick-ups to be scheduled in late December to accomdate higher than average volumes of waste that result from the Christmas season. The additional dates have been scheduled with consideration given to the timing of the last garbage and recycling pick-up in each area. Residents are encourage to review the dates below and note them on their calendars.
Residents are reminded to “Wing in the New Year” by taking the free public transit offered from 7:45 p.m. Monday, December 31, 2018 until approximately 3:15 a.m. January 1, 2019.
